Early Intervention Service

The Early Intervention Services Program provides an extensive range of support, education, groupwork and counselling services to families and individuals. In Townsville the program provides life skills education and support for a range of issues in a group setting. The purpose of all services delivered in this program is to enhance the lives and relationships of individuals and families. The courses are available at the Townsville outreach locations whilst in Mount Isa the program is more focused on one-to-one service delivery.

Eligibility to access service

You do not need a referral to access this program. Individuals may find out more by coming to the office or by telephone enquiry.

Professionalism

At Centacare, each Facilitator has a tertiary qualification in the social sciences field and or practical experience in working with families and facilitation of group work.

Staff are ethically bound to refer clients whose issues are outside their area of expertise or where the issues do not fit within the guidelines of our service.

Session Times

Groups vary in length dependant on the particular course and information about length of courses and times can be obtained by contacting the office.

Confidentiality

Counselling is confidential within the limits of legal and professional boundaries. This can be clarified with the group Facilitator if you are unsure as to what this means for you.

Fees

Groups are subsidised through the Federal Department of Families, Housing, Community Services & Indigenous Affairs.

We request a contribution (see below) towards the costs associated with facilitating the group.  While no-one will be refused our service on the basis that they cannot pay, this contribution enables us to continue to provide a valuable service to the community. If these contributions are not possible for you, a reasonable fee schedule can be discussed with your Facilitator.

If the combined annual household income is over $45,000, the fee is $10 per session.
If the combined annual household income is less than $45,000, the fee is $5 per session.

Concession card holders are not obliged to pay, however contributions towards the costs of service provision are encouraged (concession cards must be presented).
